Chairs for life in Valencia

Valencia city

Valencia is a city of both modern architecture and tradition, and perhaps it is not unreasonable to look at several pictures. The modern facility called the City of Arts and Sciences, designed by Santiago Calatrava, an elite international designer (a native of Valencia, by the way) is polished to perfection and looks very inspiring. It is therefore not unusual that some leading automakers present their new models in this modern complex. However, the city is inspiring not only by its modern present but also by its history and references of recent times and the past. Even in modern and exponentially growing world, we should always build upon time-proven values and this is the reason why we tried to build one of the Sádlík retro chairs in a practical association with this city.

Valencia gave Spain and then the world the well-known, relatively simple and wonderful dish called paella, which is based on vegetables, rice, spices and rabbit/chicken meat or seafood, and it is cooked in many variants on simple pans of different sizes. In addition to paella, a less well-known, but delicious drink made from chufa fruit called orxata also originated in Valencia.

The cold drink is served with elongated donuts called fartons that taste best after soaking up in orxata... We liked orxata the most in the Daniel Alboraya Horxareria, one of the things we probably have in common with Salvator Dalí.

Lukáš and Matyáš are familiar with the chairs because they are part of the Sádlík family, but Ida from Helsinki liked the Sádlík chair at first sight and wanted to take it home. So we promised the girl´s parents we would send the chair to Finland.
